The Milwaukee Technology Incubator Center is a "co-located" business incubator that assists in the development of minority-owned high technology and "green" technology companies at 4265 N. 30th Street in Milwaukee's "30th Street Industrial Corridor." The Incubator is in a physically separated part of DRS Power and Control Technologies' 600,000 square foot manufacturing facility.
There are currently two tenants occupying about half of the 300,000 square feet of Incubator Space: Paradigm Sensors (www.paradigmsensors.com) and Universal Housing.
The Incubator currently offers tenants:
- affordable lease rates on 300,000 square feet of space
- shared business services
- direct financial assistance through grants and/or loans
- technical assistance and management assistance, including workforce development
- a liaison between the landlord and tenants
- unique opportunities for growth as "co-located" tenants of DRS
The Incubator facility includes space for manufacturing, assembly, technology research and development, office space, and warehouse space.
The Incubator's unique co-locating arrangement within DRS makes this structure an excellent location for a high tech business Incubator to locate. Co-locating provides significant leverage and opportunity for future growth of Incubator businesses. DRS staff actively supports the Incubator program and are dedicated to helping the businesses in the Incubator thrive.
DRS-PCT is just one of a cluster of companies in the "power and controls" industry in the City of Milwaukee. Broadly speaking, power control is power management or transmission through switches, gears, computerized power management systems, batteries, etc.
The Incubator will capitalize on the cluster of power control manufacturers in the City of Milwaukee.
