Paradigm Sensors

The Milwaukee Technology Incubator Center (MTIC)

The Incubator targets minority-owned businesses that wish to co-locate with DRS Power & Control Technologies and other Incubator tenants at 4235 N. 30th Street (in the 30th Street Industrial Corridor) by offering business assistance with grants and loans, workforce development programs, and low lease rates on 300,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space.

NSP Areas

Neighborhood Strategic Planning (NSP Areas 2 and 4)

Through Neighborhood Strategic Planning the CDC partners with residents, schools, churches, businesses, elected officials, MPD, District Attorney Community Prosecution Units, Community Partners, and surrounding NSP Coordinators to enhance the quality of life by improving safety. CDC staff take a pro-active approach by establishing and maintaining block clubs, block watches, creating compacts with landlords, and organizing area cleanups.

Loan Fund

A New Revolving Loan Fund (in development) for businesses in the 30th Street Industrial Corridor area

In collaboration with Impact Seven, a statewide community development finance institution headquartered in northwestern Wisconsin, the CDC will loan funds to minority-owned businesses who agree to hire low-income workers. WHEDA will develop an outreach plan, and the loan fund and Incubator space will be marketed together. The CDC will manage the fund and help originate loans.

Villard Avenue BID

Villard Avenue Business Improvement District (City of Milwaukee, BID #19)

The CDC manages BID #19 by facilitating meetings, accounting, and assisting the BID with their agenda for future plans. The BID mission is to maintain and improve the business climate on the street by pooling resources to make investments in the streetscape, fund the annual Villard Day Street Festival, and continue the work of promoting Villard Avenue as a viable and safe destination for existing and new businesses.

Villard Square Project

Villard Square Project (NWSCDC as Co-Developer)

The CDC is currently leading negotiations with the City of Milwaukee and Gorman Company to develop a tax-credit financed, mixed-use public library building that incorporates a mixed-income, "grand family" apartment project on the corner of Villard Avenue and 35th Street. With a new green and more streamlined library model, the City will save significant operating costs. The City of Milwaukee has set aside $1 Million in borrowing authority for the project.
