FEMA Flood Assistance
FEMA Individual Assistance will be made available to eligible City of Milwaukee residents for homes and businesses damaged by severe storms and flooding July 20-24. Assistance can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses. Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) also will be available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.
Make sure to have your phone number, address, social security number, and bank information before you contact FEMA. Eligible homeowners could receive up to $30,000 in grants. There’s also a loan option that will be made available if more money is needed.
To apply:
- Register online at www.disasterassistance.gov
- Call FEMA’s hotline at 1-800-621-FEMA/3362. (TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired). The hotline is open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. local time, seven days per week.
- Go to www.city.milwaukee.gov and look at the items listed under “Facts Regarding FEMA Individual Assistance” for more information which applies to both individuals and businesses.
